Mizrah
Mizrah: East
We have placed mizrah (east) wall plaques on the eastern wall of the Museum, facing in the direction of Jerusalem. Such wall plaques were used as decorative elements in Jewish homes. East symbolizes the historical “Golden Age” and redemption to take place in Messianic times. The harbinger will be the same Prophet Elijah who protected the newly born at his circumcision.
Stained glass Mizrah wall plaque (points to Eastern direction) was bought in the vicinity of Bratislava. The Mizrah plaques are the “home-versions” of the Shiviti plaques used at synagogues, and it marks the wall in the direction of Jerusalem to facilitate proper prayer at home.
