A Calling Heard by Generations 4.
The Munk-Munkácsi family after the Holocaust
The 1940s and 1950s ushered in a new era in the history of the Jewish people. In Europe, millions of Jews had been murdered in the Holocaust, their families decimated, their communities destroyed. In Hungary, as elsewhere, survivors who returned home to discover they had lost almost everything soon emigrated, mostly to the nascent Israel, the Americas, and, within Europe, France and the United Kingdom. The war served to break apart the Munk-Munkácsi family too, as they scattered across the globe. Today, descendants of Adolf Munk and Sara Stein live in the United States, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Israel, and even New Zealand.
