The seven Munk siblings, ca. 1923

Meir Avraham Munk was blessed with seven children, born during the period 1860-1880: even in those days it was considered a large family. The seven siblings had altogether 21 children; in the next generation the average number of children fell below 2.

Of the seven siblings, six were engaged in trading activities as merchants, shopkeepers or wholesalers. Only one of the siblings, Bernát, had earned a university degree.  The majority of the sons of the siblings, born at the turn of the century, were university graduates (engineer, lawyer or physician). To a lesser extent, though, some of the girls also pursued higher education.
