Photograph is notarized and stamped by the Hungarian Central Jewish Council, Budapest, May 10, 1944. The Council was administrative body founded by order of the Nazis, the Jewish Council was responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Nazis’ ever-more restrictive anti-Jewish decrees. Composed of leading members of the community (to lend it a veneer of legitimacy), it included two of Peter Munk's relatives: Ernő Munkácsi and Dr. Nison Kahan
