A tradicionális zsidó képtilalom miatt legmegfelelőbbnek és a zsidó írásos tradícióval leginkább összeilleszthetőnek a héber betűkből kialakított ornamensek alkalmazását tekintették. Ezzel árhuzamosan dolgozott Magyarországon a szegedi származású Seelenfreund Salamon grafikus, aki szintén a héber betűkből alkotott díszítéseket. Theodor Herzl halálakor (1904) tervezett emlék képeslapja a zsidó tradíció ősi elemeit a korszak legmodernebb stíluselemeivel. A fehér sztélé-sírkövön Herzl héber neve, mellette a héber betűk elemeiből összeállított menóra és növényi inda motívumok. Seelenferund elkötelezett cionista volt, ő tervezte a magyarországi cionista mozgalom kiadványainak egy részét is. Az 1920-as években kivándorolt Tel Avivba, s ott élt egészen 1961-ben bekövetkezett haláláig. </text>

<text>A képes levelezőlapok elterjedésének időszakában viszonylag hamar megjelentek a zsidó közönséget ellátó kiadók. A new yorki Hebrew Publishing Company 96. számú képeslapja a női szerepek tréfás átalakulását mutatja. A képek értelmezését jiddis nyelvű feliratok segítik, s ezek mutatják a képek értelmezésének helyes, azaz a héber és jiddis olvasási iránynak megfelelően jobbról balra történő értelmezését is. </text>

<text>During the period when illustrated postcards became widespread, publishers catering to a Jewish audience emerged relatively quickly. Roughly coinciding with the heyday of postcard writing (c. 1890–1918), large numbers of European Jews emigrated to the West and the United States, and so the postcard also became a means of communication between those who had emigrated and those who remained at home. The illustrations featured on the postcards depicted new social roles for those who had remained in their homeland. Postcard No. 96 from the New York-based Hebrew Publishing Company depicts a humorous transformation of women’s roles. The three stages of the relationship between fashionably dressed women and men shown on the postcard are courtship, the relationship between the bride and groom, and the image of a quarreling married couple. Although presented in a humorous manner, this depicted the possibility of a new, free relationship between men and women—based on free choice and emotions—for the Eastern European community living under the tradition of arranged marriages. Yiddish captions aid in interpreting the images and also indicate the correct reading direction—from right to left, in accordance with the reading conventions of both Hebrew and Yiddish.</text>

– írta a Magyar Zsidó Múzeum Bizottsága 1912 szeptember 20-án kelt gyűjtési felhívásában.
A múzeumi gyűjteményeket kiegészítő fényképes adattárak létrehozása a 19. század végére általános muzeológiai gyakorlattá vált.
A fényképek mára felbecsülhetetlen értékű dokumentációs értéke mellett a korábban csak zsidó szertartási környezetben látható tárgyakat, zsinagógai tereket beemelte a zsidóságról szóló kulturális diskurzus világába. </text>

– írta a Magyar Zsidó Múzeum Bizottsága 1912 szeptember 20-án kelt gyűjtési felhívásában.
A múzeumi gyűjteményeket kiegészítő fényképes adattárak létrehozása a 19. század végére általános muzeológiai gyakorlattá vált.
A fényképek mára felbecsülhetetlen értékű dokumentációs értéke mellett a korábban csak zsidó szertartási környezetben látható tárgyakat, zsinagógai tereket beemelte a zsidóságról szóló kulturális diskurzus világába. </text>
