Ha alaposabban utánajárunk, akkor meg még ennél is sokkal többet. A szép menóra 1917-ben került a múzeum gyűjteményébe, amikor özv. Leiner Sámuelné elhunyt férje emlékére az összes zsidó tárgyú családi régiségét a múzeumnak ajándékozta. A menórával együtt érkezett egy ezüsttáblákba kötött ünnepi imakönyv, egy ezüst tokban lévő megilla, egy barhesztakaró, arannyal hímzett talit- és tfilin-zacskó, két spanyol-zsidó házassági szerződés, egy héber betűs véséssel díszített gyűrű, valamint az özvegy nagyapjának arcképe. Leinerné, született Adutt Antónia a bécsi török-zsidó Adutt családból származott. A bécsi török-zsidó közösség gyökerei a 18. század első feléig, a Habsburg-Oszmán békekötések időszakáig vezethetőek vissza, amikor a török-zsidó kereskedők megtelepedését és szabad vallásgyakorlatát császári privilégium tette lehetővé. A gazdaságilag megerősödött közösség 1887-ben építette fel mór stílusú zsinagógáját a Zirkusgasséban, melynek bejárati csarnokában az osztrák és az oszmán-török uralkodóház tagjainak portréit függesztették ki lojalitásuk kifejezéséül. Adutt Antónia első bécsi őse a még Konstantinápolyban 1774-ben született Adutt Leon volt, aki 1818-ban alapított kereskedelmi vállalkozást a császárvárosban. Leszármazottai közül Jacob szőnyegkereskedő lett, a Fleischmarkton volt üzlete, melyből több régi perzsa darabot a császári-királyi iparművészeti múzeumnak adott el, ezek ma is láthatóak a MAK gyűjteményében. Antónia 1879-ben ment nőül az újpesti enyv- és zselatingyáros Leiner Sámuelhez, akivel annak 1908-ban bekövetkezett haláláig élt a Duna soron lévő – feltehetően meglehetősen büdös – gyár melletti lakásukban. Az özvegy 1917-ben végrendelkezett, de értékes családi régiségeit – melyek a bécsi török-zsidó közösség történetéhez vezetnek minket – az akkor már közel két éve látogatható pesti zsidó múzeumnak ajándékozta. A „nagylelkű ajándékot" a múzeum az Egyenlőség hasábjain köszönte meg, innen tudjuk, hogy a gyűjteményben 1066-ik tárgyként leltározott menóra milyen történeteket rejt, milyen környezetben használhatták akkor, amikor a kissé szokatlan tárgy még nem egy múzeumi, hanem egy bécsi szefárd zsidó család vitrinjében állt.
