Az antikizáló profán tárgyat a héber felirat tette judaikává, a katalógus-értelmezése pedig túljudaizálta, azaz rituális, vallási célt szolgáló kellékké tette. Ez jól illik az integrálódó zsidók önképéhez, mely a zsidókat egy csakis vallási praxisában eltérő közösségként értelmezte. Ugyanakkor ez azzal is járt, hogy új tárgyként bevezettek egy olyan szezonális luxustárgyat, amire a vallási gyakorlatban semmi szükség, és feltehetően csak kevesen engedhették meg maguknak, hogy a szukkot nyolc napjára, az etrog használaton kívüli tárolásához egy drága tárgyat vásároljanak.
