Az óbudai közösség tárgyait elsőként leíró Bató Lipót amellett, hogy furcsállja a pogány istenalakkal díszített tárgy megvásárlását, a héber feliratot (mely időmeghatározásként írja, hogy a dobozt szukkotkor vásárolták) picit félreértelmezve úgy véli, hogy a dobozkát szukkot ünnepére vették az előimádkozó használatára. Az antikizáló profán tárgyat a héber felirat tette judaikává, a katalógus-értelmezése pedig túljudaizálta, azaz rituális, vallási célt szolgáló kellékké tette. Ez jól illik az integrálódó zsidók önképéhez, mely a zsidókat egy csakis vallási praxisában eltérő közösségként értelmezte.
