Title A name given to the resource Perselyek / Alms containers Description An account of the resource <h4>Perselyek és gyűjtőtálak</h4> A zsidó közösségi élet működéséhez, az iskola, zsinagóga, temető fenntartásához, a betegek, árvák és özvegyek minimális ellátásának biztosításához, a szegény menyasszonyok kiházasításához, stb. pénzre volt szükség, melyet a közösség valamennyi tagjától begyűjtött jótékonysági adományokból, cedakából fedeztek. Az adományokat zárt perselyekben gyűjtötték, és a közösség jótékonysági elöljárói kezelték. Szokás volt ugyanakkor, hogy a gyászolók házában nyitott, tálkára emlékeztető perselyeket is elhelyeztek. Ezekbe mindenki betehette a cedaka összegét, és a gyászoló család annyit vehetett ki belőle, amennyire szüksége volt. A gyászidőszakban nem számolták meg, a segítség így valóban az ősi zsidó elveknek megfelelően szinte láthatatlan maradt, nem lehetett tudni sem azt, hogy ki mennyit tett bele, sem pedig azt, hogy mennyit vettek ki belőle. A végén a maradékot betették a zárt hevraperselybe. A zárt perselyek és a nyitott gyűjtőtálak is különféle, a közösség anyagi lehetőségeit is jelző fémekből készültek. Megformáltságuk jellemzően követi az adott korszak tárgykultúráját, de az adomány célját, a gyűjtő szervezet nevét általában héber feliratokkal jelezték. Találkozunk a gyűjtőedényeken olyan idézetekkel is, melyek az adományozás fontosságára hívják fel a figyelmet.
