A tradicionális zsidó képtilalom miatt legmegfelelőbbnek és a zsidó írásos tradícióval leginkább összeilleszthetőnek a héber betűkből kialakított ornamensek alkalmazását tekintették. Ezzel árhuzamosan dolgozott Magyarországon a szegedi származású Seelenfreund Salamon grafikus, aki szintén a héber betűkből alkotott díszítéseket. Theodor Herzl halálakor (1904) tervezett emlék képeslapja a zsidó tradíció ősi elemeit a korszak legmodernebb stíluselemeivel. A fehér sztélé-sírkövön Herzl héber neve, mellette a héber betűk elemeiből összeállított menóra és növényi inda motívumok. Seelenferund elkötelezett cionista volt, ő tervezte a magyarországi cionista mozgalom kiadványainak egy részét is. Az 1920-as években kivándorolt Tel Avivba, s ott élt egészen 1961-ben bekövetkezett haláláig. </text>

A tfilinzacskó másik felén a jeruzsálemi nyomda további kliséiből készült összeállítás látható. A kompozíció közepén a menóra zsoltár, mellette kétoldalt pedig 4-4 szentföldi látnivalót ábrázoló ovális kis medaillon látható. A menóra alatt olvashatjuk a készítő nyomdász, Avraham Mose Luncz nevét. Luncz a cári Oroszországból tizenöt évesen, 1869-ben költözött Jeruzsálembe, ahol tudósként, szerkesztőként lett ismert. A többi kis képen a hagyományos zsidó zarándokhelyek: Dávid király sírja, Dávid tornya, a Siratófal, Cfat, Absalom síremléke, a Machpela barland és Ráhel sírja láthatóak.

A Jeruzsálemben kiadott jókívánság-oklevél a világ teremtésétől számított 5661 évre kíván minden jót.

Erre Könyves Kálmán király (1095–1116) dekrétumainak második könyvének második fejezete kötelezte a feleket. A Zsidó Múzeumot is alapító Izraelita Magyar Irodalmi Társaság Magyarország millenniumára (1896) elhatározta a magyarországi zsidók történetére vonatkozó oklevelek összegyűjtését és publikálását.

A kiállításról alapos katalógus készült, a tárgyleírásokat a korszak vezető múzeumi szakemberei készítették. A tórakoronáról szóló leírásban a korona abroncsán körbefutó héber betűs feliratot „Talmudból vett, s kivert körirat”–ként írták le. A korona felirata a valóságban: „E tórakoronát az adakozók pénzéből Icig és Lázár gábájok (tisztségviselők) készíttették a kis időszámítás szerint 556-ban.” (1796) A felirat Talmud idézetként való leírásában elképzelhető, hogy még a középkori antijudaista beidegződések köszönnek vissza, holott a kiállítás szellemisége ezzel ellentétes. A zsidó szertartási tárgyak szerepeltetése a magyar nemzeti identitás legfontosabb, ikonikus tárgyait bemutató kiállításon, a tiszeszlári vérvádpert követő időszakban akár politikai állásfoglalásként is értelmezhető.
A tórakorona későbbi tudományos leírása, ötvösjegyének meghatározása Brestyánszky Ilona nevéhez fűződik.

<text>On April 1, 1882 a fourteen year-old girl, Eszter Solymosi disappears in Tiszaeszlár. Local Jews are accused of ritually murdering her. A lengthy blood libel trial followed, eventually resulting in the acquittal of all the accused. The case was widely covered in the press at the time. The defender of the accused Jews, Baron Károly Eötvös wrotea detailed two-volume account of the trial. At approximately the same time, Natan Liebermann who lived in Ricse wrote a Hebrew language account of the trial, entitled Megillat Eslar. His vocabulary and the title he chose are references to Megillat Esther, or the Book of Esther forming the core of the Jewish festival of Purim, during which it is read aloud in synagogues. The author creates a parallel between the wondrous salvation of the Jewish people and the acquittal of the Jews of Tiszaeszlár in the blood libel trial. Megillat Eslar is not a historiography; rather it fits into a tradition of holding local Purim festivals to commemorate the sparing of the community from persecution. Megillat Eslar, published by Blayer printers in Munkatsh, was read out in the neighboring communities on the anniversaries of the closing of the trial. </text>

<text>A 19. század modernizációs hatásai a táplálkozási szokások változásaiban is tetten érhetőek. A közlekedés, elsősorban a vasút fejlődésének köszönhetően korábban ritkaságnak számító alapanyagok is elérhetővé váltak, a korszerű konyhatechnika következtében pedig bonyolultabb ételek is megjelenhettek a polgári családok asztalán. A hagyományos zsidó ételek mellett megjelentek a mártások, felfújtak, sütemények, pudingok. A levéltárban megőrzött 19. századi kéziratos receptfüzet ennek a korszaknak az emléke. A 16 oldalas, sima papírlapokból álló füzetben héber kurzív írással, németül jegyezte fel a bonyolultabb recepteket egy háziasszony. A 33 recept mindegyike édesség, mártás, gyümölcslé. Alapanyagai között a hagyományos konyhai alapanyagok szerepelnek, melyeket a korabeli mértékegységekkel, latban ad meg. A receptfüzetében a pontos méréseket és elkészítési technikát igénylő ételeket sorolja fel, a hétköznapi ételeket nyilván fejből, s nem receptet követve készítette. </text>

<text>1861-ben jelent meg Kohányi Sámuel első magyar–német–héber olvasókönyve az izraelita népiskolák számára. A könyv a magyar nyelvű olvasmányok előtt néhány oldalon a modern világhoz kapcsolódó szavak, kifejezések megértését segítő ábrákat is közöl. </text>

Oktató munkájának segítésére, tanítványai számára héber nyelvtankönyvet állított össze, melyet Prágában, a tekintélyes Landau nyomdában nyomtattak, jóllehet még működött a bibliafordításait nyomtató Egyetemi Nyomda.
