A pesti Zsidó Múzeum alapítása után, 1912-ben Fürst Aladár a Múlt és Jövő hasábjain hívta fel a fényképek gyűjtésének fontosságára a figyelmet, cikkében a „zsidó kultúrtörténeti értékkel bíró tárgyaknak fényképét és leírását”, valamint „régi zsinagógák, templomi szerek, okmányok, zsidó iparművészeti munkák, illusztrációk” fényképeit kérte. A kezdeményezés eredményességét jelzi, hogy a Magyar Zsidó Múzeum 1915-ben megjelent első katalógusában az első tételek között szerepel több mint negyven zsinagóga fényképe, valamint híres zsidók portéi. A Múzeum alapításától alakuló fényképtárunk számára sok vidéki zsinagóga belső teréről ekkor készült először és utoljára fényképfelvétel, nem egy közülük kiemelkedő fotográfiai minőségben. A fényképek mára felbecsülhetetlen értékű dokumentációs értéke mellett a korábban csak zsidó szertartási környezetben látható tárgyakat, zsinagógai tereket beemelte a zsidóságról szóló kulturális diskurzus világába. Földes Istvánné Description An account of the resource A levél címzettje Herzfeld György (1918.10.8.), aki a 103/11-es Kényszer munkaszolgálatos században teljesített szolgálatot, a címe alapján tudjuk, hogy akkoriban Várpalotán állomásoztak. A levél feladója, felesége Sarolta (1912.4.24.), aki kisfiúkkal, Péterrel együtt a levél keltezési dátuma alatt már a sárvári gettóban töltötték napjaikat. A rövid levél szövege is tanúskodik a környezetük bizonytalanságáról. Saroltát és a hét éves Pétert helyi zsidósággal együtt július 4-én és 5-én deportálták a magyar hatóságok KL Auschwitz-Birkenauba, ahol a gyermeküket a gázkamrák egyikébe küldték, míg Sarolta munkaképes felnőttként augusztusig a táborban végzett kényszermunkát. Augusztus 14-én átszállították KL Stutthofba, ahol a 66618-as számot kapta. Később eltűnt és holtnak nyilvánították. György a további hónapokat, egészen novemberig munkaszolgálatban töltötte, majd november elején adták át a német hatóságoknak és KL Flossenburgbe deportálták, ahová november 9-én érkezett meg. A 33613-mas fogolyszámot kapta. Ismeretlen időpontban átszállították KL Buchenwaldba, ahol az ohrdrufi altáborba került.
