Az egyik irányzat a nyomtatott könyvek formai megjelenését követi: a nyomtatott betűket és a rézmetszeteket utánozza, ezért kizárólag tintával, fehér pergamenen fekete vonalakkal dolgozik. A 18. században elsősorban Közép-Európában a meggazdagodott zsidó családokban divatossá lettek az illusztrált, kéziratos, személyes használatra szánt luxus-imakönyvek. A Joszéf ben Móse Náftáli HáLévi számára készített imakönyvet a trebitschi Mose Léb ben Wolf másolta, melyben így minden egyes leírt betűben jelen van a másoló szakrális munkája, ami a héber szöveg szentségéhez kötődő fontos tényező. A címlap és a belső illusztrációk rajzai már a divatos rézmetszetekre emlékeztetnek, s a címlapon azt is feltünteti a másoló, hogy „amszterdami betűkkel” készítette a könyvet. Ez azt jelenti, hogy betűi olyanok, mintha Amszterdamban, a korszak legrangosabb nyomdászati központjában nyomtatták volna őket. A címlapon a szokásos kapu-alak, előtte kétoldalt Dávid és Salamon alakja jelképeikkel: Dávid a hárfával, Salamon pedig a jeruzsálemi Szentély alaprajzával. A kapuzat felett a Messiás előhírnöke lóháton, mögötte Jeruzsálem kontúrjaival. Az imakönyv tartalmazza a hétköznapi, szombati és ünnepi imákat, valamint a Pirké Avot teljes szövegét is, melyet szokás volt szombatonként olvasgatni. ____________________ Az imakönyv címlapját egy olyan oldal követi, ami még nem az imák szövegét tartalmazza, hanem az elmélyedést, és a koncentrálást segíti, hasonlóképpen, mint a zsinagógákban az előimádkozó pultja előtt látható siviti táblák. Ennek legjellegzetesebb szövege a menóra alakban leírt 67. zsoltár. A 67. zsoltár a mindennap elmondott imák része, azért az időért könyörög, amikor minden nép felismeri az isteni igazságot, és ez elhozza a békét a világnak. A zsidó tradíció szerint ennek a zsoltárnak a szerzője nem Dávid, hanem a szellő zengette meg így a hárfáját. Mivel a menóra a csoda és a megváltás szimbóluma, megfelelő formát jelent a csodaváró szöveges tartalomnak, de több misztikus magyarázat is ismert még a kettő kapcsolatára. According to medieval Jewish legends, Adam’s first wife was Lilith, but she fled from him and bowed herself with the devil. In the stories, Lilith marches with host of demons and kidnaps newborn infants. It was customary to hang a paper-cut amulet or plaque in the room where the pregnant woman laid, which served to protect the expectant mother as well as the newborn from Lilith, the dangerous demon. These plaques are full of protective texts and illustrations. The childbed plaque (also known as kimpet-tsetl, from kimpet, which in Yiddish means childbed) made in Nitra, in 1854, is the work of Mordehai Sofer, a renowned copperplate engraver. In the upper quarter of the rectangular sheet, two winged angels hold a drapery inscribed with Mazal Tov (good luck) in one hand and a shield in the other. The text of Psalm 20 can be read on the shield. Below the shield, in the center, is the name of Abraham, the forefather of the Jewish people. The names of the other forefathers (Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon) and foremothers (Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah) can be read on both sides, between openwork geometric-vine decorations. Below the two angels are the names of Adam and Eve, as well as the amulet formula for warding off Lilith, highlighted in larger letters: "Out (be) Lilith, the first" – followed by the three names considered to have magical powers: "Sinoy, Sinsinoy, Smangaluf." Az Óbudai imakönyv címlapja a nyomtatott héber könyvek címlapjainak formáját követi, a vékony térkitöltő vonalakkal a rézmetszeteket kívánták utánozni. A könyv címlapját ezüst lemez díszíti, melyen feltüntették a dátumot (1844), valamint a hevra kadisa vezetőit és elöljáróit. Érdekes, hogy az ezüstlemez eredetileg más célokra használt darab lehetett, hiszen 1821–es ezüstjele a könyv írásánál korábbi. A kóser tinta jóval több vasat tartalmaz, mint az egyéb, elterjedt tintafajták. Ez a pergamenen tartósabb, nehezebben pereg le, a papírt viszont szinte szétroncsolja. Az óbudai imakönyv lapjai az erős tinta miatt szinte teljesen összetörtek, közepük morzsálódott, a betűk kiestek. A könyv restaurálása során a zsidó vallásjog, a halakha elveinek megfelelően szem előtt tartottuk a betűk, az írás és a szöveg szentségét. Az összetört lapokról kihullott betűket a lehetőség szerint visszaillesztettük, amit pedig nem sikerült, azokat egyenként konzerválva külön dobozkában megőrizzük. A restaurálási munkát Fehrentheil Henriette végezte 2007 nyarán.
