Local Jews are accused of ritually murdering her. A lengthy blood libel trial followed, eventually resulting in the acquittal of all the accused. The case was widely covered in the press at the time. The defender of the accused Jews, Baron Károly Eötvös wrotea detailed two-volume account of the trial. At approximately the same time, Natan Liebermann who lived in Ricse wrote a Hebrew language account of the trial, entitled Megillat Eslar. His vocabulary and the title he chose are references to Megillat Esther, or the Book of Esther forming the core of the Jewish festival of Purim, during which it is read aloud in synagogues. The author creates a parallel between the wondrous salvation of the Jewish people and the acquittal of the Jews of Tiszaeszlár in the blood libel trial. Megillat Eslar is not a historiography; rather it fits into a tradition of holding local Purim festivals to commemorate the sparing of the community from persecution. Megillat Eslar, published by Blayer printers in Munkatsh, was read out in the neighboring communities on the anniversaries of the closing of the trial. A nyomda tulajdonosa, Mose Israel Landau a híres prágai Eliezer Landau rabbi unokája volt, maga is tudós, több lexikográfiai mű szerzője. Landau nagy jelentőséget tulajdonított a héber nyelvnek, és a héber szakrális szövegek lehető legjobb minőségű kiadásának. 1829 és 1831 között megjelentette a Misna, majd 1830 és 1835 között a Talmud valamennyi kötetét. 1833 és 1837 között ő adta ki Moses Mendelsohn modern német nyelvre fordított Bibliáját, a Biurt. Talmud kiadásának vörössel és feketével nyomott címlapján jellegzetes biedermeier díszítés is látható: kupolás-oszlopos pavilonban fügefa áll, alatta talmudidézet, mely a tóratanulást a fügefához hasonlítja: „Mi jellemzi a fügét? Akárhol is érinti meg az ember, talál benne magokat. Ilyen a Tóra is: bárhol is tanulmányozzuk, mély értelmet találunk benne.” (TB Eruvin 44a) Mose Israel Landau gyönyörűen nyomtatott könyvei nagy hatással voltak a közép-európai zsidó közösségekre, ahová a zsidó felvilágosodás (haszkala) eszméit közvetítették. Title A name given to the resource Imakönyv - Mahzor Description An account of the resource A tizenkilencedik század első felében Anton Schmid sokáig egyedüliként volt jogosult héber könyvek nyomtatására Bécsben . Schmid keresztény nyomdász volt, aki keleti nyelveket tanult Bécsben, majd a héber nyomdászatot Lembergben tanulmányozta. Nyomdájában elsősorban a klasszikus szövegeket, Bibliát, Talmudot, kommentárokat és imakönyveket nyomtattak, kiváló minőségben. Egy 1800-as császári rendelet megtiltotta a héber könyvek importját az Osztrák császárság területére, így Schmid versenytársak nélkül maradt. 1794-ben megjelent imakönyvének címlapján latin betűs német szöveg utal a tényre, hogy Schmid császári királyi privilegizált héber nyomdász. Nyomdája ellátta a sokszínű Habsburg zsidóság minden közösségét. 1794-ben megjelent ünnepi imakönyv-sorozata (mahzór) a lengyel és a morva rítus szerinti imarendet követi. A Korban Minha című imakönyv, melyben a mindennapi és az ünnepi imák mellett a női kötelességekhez köthető áldások is szerepelnek, klasszikus jegyajándékká vált, melyet a vőlegény ajándékoz menyasszonyának. A könyv címe a jeruzsálemi szentély korszakára, az ott végzett áldozatokra és felajánlásokra utal, de átvitt értelemben jelentheti az ajándékot is, mellyel valaki a tiszteletét fejezi ki a másik iránt. Az imakönyv mellett a másik női alapolvasmány a bibliai hetiszakaszok és a hozzájuk kapcsolódó legendák, történetek jiddis fordítását közreadó „cenerene”. Generációkon keresztül ezek a könyvek voltak a formális oktatásban nem részesülő zsidó nők ismeretszerzésében a legfontosabbak, ezeket a történeteket, s az ezek által közvetített értékeket alkalmazták a családi életben, s adták tovább gyermekeinek.
