A szövegközpontú zsidó tradícióban az amulettek és kámeák szent szövegek részleteit tartalmazzák, esetleg egy–egy betű vagy rövidítés idézi meg az túlvilági segítséget. A tizennyolcadik századi, itáliai barokk amulettből számos példány ismert. A tárgy belsejében, a tetején lévő szalagcsokor és az alul látható szőlőfürt között kis fémrúdra tekercselték azt a mágikus szövegekkel teleírt pergamendarabkát, amelynek az amulett védelmező hatását tulajdonították. Az ezüst tokon a gazdag akantuszleveles díszítés között a zsidó ikonográfia számos szimbóluma megtalálható, elsősorban olyanok, melyek a szentéllyel és isten védelmező erejével kapcsolatosak. A szalagcsokor alatt a baldachin egyik oldalán a főpap két jellegzetes attribútumát, a főpapi süveget és a füstölőt, másik oldalán pedig a törvényadás és a megváltás szimbólumait, a tízparancsolat két kőtábláját és a szentélybéli menórát láthatjuk. Mindkét oldalon felhők között a Shaddai azaz Örökkévaló olvasható, mely a kimondhatatlan és leírhatatlan nevű isten egyik lehetséges megnevezése a zsidó hagyományban. A tárgyat a neves zsidó műgyűjtő, Dirsztay Béla ajándékozta a múzeumnak 1915-ben. Title A name given to the resource Mezuza tok Mezuzah case Description An account of the resource A kis ezüstfiligrán mezuzát Böhm Salamon óbudai ötvös készítette 1848-ban. Az elhelyezés módja az egyiptomi kivonulás történetére emlékeztet. A kivonulás könyvében olvasható történet szerint a tizedik csapás, az elsőszülöttek halála előtt a zsidó házak ajtófélfáit a vacsorára elfogyasztott bárányok vérével jelölték meg, s a csapás elkerülte ezeket a házakat. Ennek emléke a mai napig a zsidó házak ajtófélfáin elhelyezett mezuza. Vallási előírás csak a szövegre van, elkészítésénél ugyanazok a szigorú szabályok érvényesülnek, mint a Tóra írásánál. A kis hengerré összetekert pergamendarabot rejtő tok gyakorlatilag bármi lehet, ami megóvja a szöveget a betűk lekopásától, használhatatlanná válásától. A tokra vágott kis nyíláson keresztül három héber betű látszik: sin–dalet–jod. Ez egyik értelmezésben a „Saddaj” istennév, a másik szerint az „Somer dalté Israel” „Izrael ajtóinak őrzője” héber mondat rövidítése. A Böhm Salamon a kis mezuza-tokot ezüstdrótból hajlított, filigrántechnikával készítette, ami az óbudai zsidó ötvösség jellemzője volt. A feudális Magyarországon a zsidók nem lehettek tagjai a céheknek, s így a mesterségek jelentős részének műveléséből is ki voltak zárva. Ezek közé tartozott az ötvösség is, melyet mindössze két földesúri birtokon megtelepedett zsidó közösségben művelhettek egyéni engedélyek alapján: Pozsony–Várteleken és Óbudán. Böhm Salamon az óbudai zsidó közösség tagja volt. A mezuza-tok egy szinte teljesen hasonló másik példánnyal együtt az Óbudai Zsidó Múzeum gyűjteményéhez tartozott, majd 1949-50-ben a Magyar Zsidó Múzeum gyűjteményébe került át.
