Ezt ábrázolja gyönyörűen a gyöngyösi hevra kadisa emléklapja: a halottak körüli szolgálatokat, majd a temetést ábrázoló kis képkockákból álló keret közepén a Messiás előhírnöke látható lóháton, s tőle jobbra már azt ezt követő időre ígért feltámadás. A keret képeit a héber olvasási iránynak megfelelően jobbról balra kell követnünk, a jobb felső sarokból indulva, az óramutató járásával ellentétesen. A felső három képen a betegség jeleneteit láthatjuk: a megbetegedett embert ágyában és az orvos látogatását. A baloldali képsorban már megjelennek a hevra kadisa tagjai is: meglátogatják a beteget, együtt imádkoznak, majd a halál beálltát követően két kalapos férfialak a korabeli gyakorlatnak megfelelően a halottat leteszi a földre. Ezt követően virrasztanak és imádkoznak, a földön fekvő, lepellel letakart halott fejénél gyertya ég. Ezután a holttest rituális megmosdatása szintén a hevra feladata, akik a megtisztított, fehér gyolcsból készült halotti ruhába öltöztetett holttestet koporsóba helyezik. A temetéshez a hevra kadisa tagjai vállukon viszik a halottat a temetőbe, előttük a szentegylet egyik tagja kezében perselyt tartva adományokat gyűjt. A kép felirata a perselyeken is gyakran olvasható, jól ismert mondatot idézi, miszerint a jótékonyság megment a haláltól. (Példabeszédek 10:2, TB Sabat 156b) Az utolsó két kép vizuális bizonyítéka egy régi, a 19. században megszűntetett temetkezési gyakorlatnak: a halottat kiemelik a koporsóból, és amint az utolsó képen látható, koporsó nélkül, pusztán a halotti ruhában helyezik a sírba. Ezt az ősi szokást a modernizálódó államok azon közegészségügyi rendszabályai szüntették meg, melyek előírták a koporsós temetést.
