A kevés 19. századi kivétel egyike Mordeháj Szófer papírra, rézlemezről nyomtatott, gazdagon illusztrált megillája. Mordeháj szófer sztam, azaz tóra, tfilin és mezuza író szófer volt, aki szakrális pergamenek írásával kereste kenyerét, de számos rézmetszete és illusztrált kézirata is fennmaradt. A papírra nyomtatott megillája rituális célra nem használható, inkább a haszkalapárti, polgárosult zsidó rétegek vásárolhatták.
